Welcome to FOOTPRINTS - Destination Dover 2008!!

How we formed

Our team formed in 2006, founded by Jeremy Fox, an announcer at Gosport Borough FC. He called for volunteers to come forward to join in a 100 mile walk across the South Downs scheduled for June 2007. 3 volunteers came forward following his appeal: Roger Labrum, Ian Buzzard and Colin Rogers. A support team also consisted of Jan Payne and Chris Cox.

The inspiration for the walk came about following a personal tragedy in Jeremy's life. Jeremy works as a carer during the day and has made many friends through his work, one of which passed away in 2006, providing him with the inspiration to take on the challenge.

The picture above was taken at the finishing point of the 2007 South Downs Challenge. The support team were there to greet the walkers with a strip of winners ribbon and a bottle of well-deserved Champagne. The walkers were applauded by the support team and some nearby diners at a cafe joined in.

The team were in high spirits and celebrated their completed challenge at an Italian restaurant in Eastbourne.

The team formed a close friendship and became a team, ready to organise the North Downs Challenge, scheduled for June 2008.

There was never a dull moment on the South Downs Challenge including some looooong stories, hillside antics, incriminating photos and some late-night ambling! We are determined to make the North Downs Challenge just as fun, if not better, with a few familiar faces, plus a few new ones!

Right: At the end of the walk!

This year we also have the Oast & Squire - a restaurant which is part of the nationwide Beefeater chain - involved in the planning and running of the event. Louise Prowse, the staff and customers of the Oast & Squire is providing wonderful support for the team, Louise becoming a valuable member of the team. We thank the Oast & Squire for their continued support throughout the challenge.
