5 Jun 2008 - Day 4

The days stage started with a strenous climb within the first mile - a steep track leading out of Otford and onto the Downs. A couple of hours into the stage, Roger had powered on with his head down and ended up getting lost, finding himself a mile off-course. A local couple became aware of this and pointed him in the right direction.

When the walkers met the support team in the small village of Great Buckland for lunch, the same couple who had helped Roger arrived and met everyone. They showed everybody a viewpoint which provided the team with a clear view of London. The team finished for the day a few hours later at Medway Bridges before travelling to the overnight stay at Farthing Corner.

Unsure of where to eat that evening, the team asked the hotel to recommend somewhere which led the team to the Rose & Crown Public House in Hartlip. A charming pub/restaurant with friendly staff and delicious country foods, warm atmosphere and a picturesque setting. Definitely a place recommended byt the Footprints team
