4 Jun 2008 - Day 3

The team woke up on Day 3 to the sun shining through the window, a glorious start for the day ahead. After a difficult time at the hotel and in the traffic the team had a gradual and muddy climb back up onto the Downs.

A couple of miles into the stage, the group had a treat. They were able to see some landmark views on the horizon such as Canary Wharf, The Telecom Tower, the London Eye, Big Ben and a view of Central London. The walkers then hit a difficult terrain mid-stage with some awkward climbs and tricky descents. The Grenwich Meridian Line was a highlight to cross at this time. This stage saw the team cross borders from Surrey into Kent where the walkers met up with the support team in the picturesque village of Titsey, the group heading east afterwards. The team went off course following misleading signposts and arrived in the charming village of Chevening. A local woman helped them back on course but soon caught up with them with Roger's walking aid which he had left behind. The first blister of the week arrived on Jeremy's foot which he had to treat on the Downs.

The group then ambled into Otford to meet with the waiting support team. It was the end of a hot and eventful day so the group headed off into Wrotham Heath - their overnight stay - but got sent round the houses by the mischeifous Shaun the Sat Nav.

The group went to a Beefeater which was next door to the hotel for their evening meal and had a lovely evening with some reminiscent of the previous year.
